It’s been a few days since I last put anything on this blog as I have been busy with other things.  But an eventful few days!  Following on from two days scraping along the bottom of the ditch from Market Harborough to Kings Lock, we moored at Castle Gardens in Leicester over Tuesday night.  Wednesday dawned grim and cloudy with rain and snow setting in for the whole day so we stayed put.  On Thursday we continued north along the Soar which was now very high with all the warning boards on the borderline of amber and red.  Managed to get as far as Sileby lock but could not carry on as the river was too high and the weir was in full flow, making exit from the lock difficult/impossible.  Moored up overnight on Thursday with Simon and Beck’s from Emma B, who we had shared locks with from Leicester

Friday morning was frosty but clear and sunny, the river levels had fallen and we went down the locks and continued on to Barrow on Soar where we picked up Sarah and the girls who were staying with us until Monday.  Had a lovely four days with them all although it was a bit cramped for sleeping.  Dropped them off back at Barrow on Monday afternoon and moored up overnight.

This morning we slept late and after a leisurely breakfast cruised on to Loughborough where we moored up and plumbed in the washing machine.  On our travels saw the first ducklings of the year, seven tiny little things like bumble bees, very cute.  Also saw a bloke sitting cross legged and barefoot next to a bridge.  Not sure what that was about, meditating maybe?  Oh well takes all sorts and things are never boring!!  Staying overnight in Loughborough and heading towards the Erewash canal tomorrow of which I have heard varied reports.  Hopefully have some photo’s to post soon as I have now found my cameraJ
