Well the good ship Jeanie Deans is fully underway today and the big adventure has begun.  We have had our first full days cruising from the bottom of Foxton locks to Kilby Bridge.  We set of at about 9:40am and arrived at Kilby Bridge at about 5:30, a journey that would take about ½ an hour by car took us eight hours.  What a day, it’s been a long time since we came this way and I had forgotten what hard work these locks are.  The gates are really heavy and hard to move and several of them had the bottom gates open which then had to be shut before we could use them.  A total of 12 locks (knackered now).  The water is very low and we got stuck under a bridge and could not move.  Managed to sort it between us though.  Got another nine locks to do tomorrow so should be an easy day (haha).

I took the dogs out early this morning and on the way back saw a hare running across a sheep field.  Amazing not seen a hare for ages.  Also saw a couple of pigs in a field near Debdale.  Love pigs!  Managed to find a mooring at Kilby Bridge and went for a cuppa tea with Mike and Alison and caught up on all the gossip since we last saw them.  Then home to the boat for an excellent curry and rice.  Tired now so will probably go to bed early.  Me and Graham really know how to live it up!!
